FAQ's
We’ve rounded up the questions we get asked all the time (plus a few we just know you’re secretly thinking). If yours isn’t here — well, you know where to find us… Instagram, Facebook, email, or carrier pigeon.
Can I provide my own t-shirt or hoodie?
Yes, absolutely you can! Bring your fave hoodie, tee, or jacket and we’ll press your design straight onto it.
Do I have to be a community group?
Absolutely not. We’re here for schools, businesses, sports clubs, one-off birthday gags, or that random 2 am idea you can’t get out of your head. If you can dream it, we’ll help make it wearable.
What if what I want isn’t on the website?
Flick us an Instagram message, Facebook DM, or email and we’ll work with you to make your dreams come true.
I’ve made something on Canva but don’t want to pay the subscription to download it — help?
No stress. Just send us the shareable uneditable link and we’ll download it for you. Easy peasy.
Can you help me design it?
Yep! We can do simple designs in-house. Get in touch and we’ll chat about what’s possible. If it’s outside our wheelhouse, we’ll hook you up with one of our awesome local designers.
How long does it take to get my order?
Usually within the week — we like to keep things speedy. If there’s ever a delay, we’ll let you know. For big orders (25+ items), please give us a little extra lead time.
Do you have minimum order sizes?
Nope. You want a single tee with your cat’s face on it? Done. You want 500 tees with your cat’s face on it? Also done.
What’s the deal with pricing?
Good news: no setup fees, no minimums. For 25+ of the same item, we’ll chat discounts because we’re nice like that.
Can you do one-off funny/personal shirts?
110% yes. We love a good laugh — birthdays, gag gifts, inside jokes, “don’t talk to me until I’ve had my coffee” tees… keep them coming.
Do you ship anywhere in NZ?
Yes — we’re New Zealand wide. From Kaitaia to Bluff, we’ve got you.
Do you only do clothing?
Clothing is our bread and butter, but we’ve also printed tote bags, sports bags, fabric banners, and even promo tablecloths. If it’s fabric, we’ll chat about it.
Do you do fundraisers for schools, sports teams, or dance studios?
100% we do! Fundraising is one of the main reasons we started WearLab. We’ve got awesome solutions that make fundraising way less admin-heavy. Get in touch and let’s talk about how we can help your group raise funds (and look good while doing it).
Can I get my name/number/sponsor logo on the back?
Absolutely. Personalisation is kind of our jam.
What if I don’t have a design yet, just a vibe?
Perfect — bring the vibe! We’ll see what we can put together for you, or we’ll connect you with a local designer who can make your vision a reality.
Will the print wash out after a few washes?
No way! We use top-notch Direct To Film (DTF) technology, so your prints stay bold and bright. To keep them looking fresh, wash in cold water and air dry (skip the super-hot dryer if you can).
Frequently Asked Questions – AI Artwork & DTF Printing
What file format should I upload for DTF printing?
We recommend uploading a PNG file with a transparent background. This ensures your design prints cleanly without unwanted white or coloured boxes.
What resolution does my AI artwork need to be?
Your artwork must be created at 300 DPI. Lower-resolution images may appear sharp on screen but can look blurry or pixelated when printed.
What size should my AI-generated design be?
Design your artwork on a square canvas measuring 30–31cm x 30–31cm. This allows your design to print at full size without stretching or distortion.
Do I need to remove the background myself?
Yes. Your file must have a fully transparent background. Backgrounds that appear white, grey, textured, or semi-transparent will print unless removed.
Why does my AI image look good online but bad when printed?
Most AI tools generate images for screen use, not printing. Common issues include low DPI, soft edges, shadows, glow effects, or backgrounds that are not truly transparent.
Can I upload AI-generated images with text?
Yes — but any text must be bold, outlined, or thick-lined. Thin fonts and fine details may not transfer well during the DTF printing process.
Are photo-realistic AI images suitable for DTF printing?
They can be, but they are higher risk. Photo-realistic images often include shadows, gradients, and fine detail that don’t always translate well to fabric. Flat or illustrated styles are more reliable.
Can I upload screenshots or mockups?
No. Screenshots and clothing mockups are not print-ready and usually result in poor-quality prints. Please upload the original artwork file only.
What happens if my file isn’t print-ready?
If your artwork doesn’t meet our print requirements, we’ll contact you before printing to discuss your options. No printing happens without your approval.
Will WearLab resize or fix my AI artwork?
Minor checks are included, but significant edits, background removal, or redesign work may require approval or an additional fee.
I’m not sure if my file is right — what should I do?
Send us a message and we can point you in the right direction
Can I use ChatGPT or other AI tools to create artwork?
Yes. AI-generated artwork is welcome, as long as it meets our print-ready requirements. We recommend using our WearLab-approved AI prompt for best results.
